Metro Detroit February Events to Fall in Love With

February in Southeast Michigan is cold! Luckily, it is also packed with tons of fun-filled events. From Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year celebrations, to outings honoring Black History Month, Gilson Home Group has got you covered with the ultimate guide of what to do in the area. Throw on your warmest coat and explore what Michigan has to offer this February!

DIA Black History Month Programs

When: Now through February 28 | Various times
Where: Detroit Institute of Arts, Midtown Detroit

The Detroit Institute of Arts is honoring Black History Month with tons of events this February. The museum will host art workshops, guest lectures, live demos and musical performances throughout the month, celebrating Black voices in the arts.


Berkley WinterFest

When: Saturday, February 7 | 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Where: Community Center Lawn, Berkley

Berkley Parks and Recreation presents this year’s WinterFest! This free event is fun for the whole family, featuring ice skating, bounce houses, firepit s’mores and so much more. Plus, donuts and hot beverages will be available to purchase from the Little Donut Factory!


Detroit Boat Show

When: February 12 through 15 | Thursday: 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. | Friday: 12:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. | Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Vibe Credit Union Showplace, Novi

The Detroit Boat Show is back this month with a wide-range of vendors and boats to browse. Enjoy a free t-shirt (while supplies last) provided by the Sustainability Booth, promoting awareness for aquatic invasive species.


Detroit Valentine’s Day Outing

When: Saturday, February 14 | Various times
Where: Downtown & Metro Detroit

Detroit Riverfront Lunar New Year’s Celebration

When: Saturday, February 14 | 12:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Where: Robert C. Valade Park, Detroit Riverfront

Looking to change it up this Valentine’s Day? Visit Robert C. Valade Park at the Detroit Riverfront for a Lunar New Year Celebration, presented by the Michigan Taiwanese American Organization. The event will feature a festive parade, lion, dragon and Nezha dances, hands-on arts and crafts, and musical performances from a Chinese orchestra.


Autorama

When: February 27 through March 1
Friday: 12:00 to 10:30 p.m. | Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. | Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Where: Huntington Park, Downtown Detroit

Detroit’s Autorama is back for its 73rd year, bringing with it the annual Ridler Awards, one of the country’s most prestigious automotive awards for custom hot rod car owners and builders. The event will also feature tons of celebrity guests, car presentations, plus a charity auction.
